Motivational Interviewing is a method for helping people find their internal motivation for finding solutions to their problems. Evidence-based de-escalation techniques will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives:

Participants will leave with an understanding that motivational interviewing is a collaborative, person-centered form of guiding.
-
Participants will be able to explain the specific components of motivational interviewing that will elicit and strengthen a person’s own motivation for change.
-
Participants will learn the signs of agitation and trauma that may indicate the need for de-escalation, and how to use both verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques.
