DESCRIPTION:Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is an evidence-based training program designed to equip adults with the skills needed to support adolescents aged 12 to 18 who may be experiencing mental health or substance use challenges. The course is tailored for individuals who regularly interact with youth\, such as parents\, teachers\, school staff\, coaches\, and youth group leaders. Participants learn about common mental health issues affecting young people—including anxiety\, depression\, eating disorders\, ADHD\, and substance use—as well as typical adolescent development. The training emphasizes the importance of early intervention and introduces a practical\, five-step action plan (ALGEE) to help adults respond effectively to youth in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
